ReSound's latest hearing aid, the Vivia, brings artificial intelligence technology to hearing healthcare, trained on 25 years worth of conversational data. This new device combines advanced sound processing with the smallest micro-receiver-in-ear design available today.

Our research with patients shows that 64% of users experience improved speech comprehension in noisy environments with the ReSound Vivia compared to other AI-assisted hearing aids. When using the new Intelligent Focus feature, 83% of patients prefer it over previous noise reduction technologies. These results demonstrate real-world benefits that make meaningful differences in daily communication.

The Vivia represents a significant step forward in making hearing aids work more intuitively with your brain's natural listening processes. Rather than completely eliminating background sounds, which can make listening experiences feel unnatural, the AI technology intelligently manages different sound environments while preserving important audio cues that help you stay connected to your surroundings.

The AI Difference in Hearing

The Vivia uses dual-chip AI technology that processes sound similarly to how our brains naturally work. Its Intelligent Focus feature pays attention to sounds coming from the direction you're looking, making conversations feel more natural, particularly in challenging environments like restaurants or family gatherings.

The AI system in the Vivia has been trained on 13.5 million spoken sentences across multiple languages. This extensive training allows the hearing aid to process sound up to 17 times more efficiently than previous AI hearing solutions, helping to clarify speech while reducing unwanted background noise.

Design and Battery Life

Advanced AI technology and wireless streaming features require substantial processing power, making battery life a key consideration in modern hearing aids. ReSound has addressed this challenge in the Vivia with three distinct models to match different power needs and preferences.

The rechargeable microRIE (micro-receiver-in-ear) model delivers up to 30 hours of use on a single charge during typical use, or 20 hours when engaging AI features and streaming. When unexpected situations arise, a quick 10-minute charge provides 2.7 hours of use. For users who prefer traditional batteries, the RIE 61 operates with size 312 batteries, while the RIE 62 uses size 13 batteries.

Each model includes app control and programmable push buttons, with the microRIE featuring additional tap controls for easier operation. The RIE 62 comes with a built-in telecoil, while other models can access telecoil systems using the MultiMic+ accessory. The Vivia is available in 10 color options, including Navy Blue and Red, allowing users to match their personal style preferences.

The Vivia comes in three models to suit different preferences:

  • A rechargeable microRIE (micro-receiver-in-ear)
  • RIE 61 with size 312 battery
  • RIE 62 with size 13 battery

Smart Features for Modern Living

The Vivia integrates with today's technology through Bluetooth LE Audio 5.2, bringing new levels of convenience to hearing aid users. You can stream audio directly from your smartphone, whether you use an iPhone or Android device. The hands-free calling feature activates with a double tap, letting you take calls without reaching for your phone.

The ReSound Smart 3D app puts control at your fingertips. You can adjust hearing settings based on your environment, check battery levels, locate misplaced hearing aids, and manage your listening programs. The app works with Apple Watch too, providing quick access to common controls right from your wrist.

Looking ahead, the Vivia supports emerging Bluetooth LE Audio standards. This means your hearing aids will be ready to work with new audio streaming technologies as they become available, protecting your investment for the future.

Advanced Connectivity with Auracast

The Vivia includes Auracast broadcast audio technology, allowing users to receive audio broadcasts in various public spaces. This feature works in theaters, places of worship, airports, and other venues equipped with Auracast transmitters. The ReSound Smart 3D app includes an Auracast Assistant, making it simple to connect to available audio streams with a single tap.

Protection for Long Island Weather and Activities

Living on Long Island means experiencing everything from humid summers at Jones Beach to winter storms rolling in from the Sound. The Vivia is built to handle these varied conditions with its IP68 rating - the highest level of protection available for hearing aids. This rating indicates the device has been tested to resist both dust and water, including temporary submersion.

The "6" in IP68 represents complete protection against dust, sand, and other small particles - ideal for windy days at Smith Point or yard work around your Port Jefferson home. The "8" signifies protection against water damage, allowing you to wear your hearing aids confidently during unexpected rain showers or high-humidity days without worry about internal damage.

ReSound has applied this weatherproofing through a specialized nanocoating that protects every component of the hearing aid. This comprehensive protection extends to all three Vivia models, making them practical for Long Island's active lifestyle - whether you're boating in the harbor, walking the Stony Brook campus, or simply going about your daily activities in varying weather conditions.

Personalized Fitting and Expert Care

At Port Jefferson Hearing, we know that even the most advanced AI technology needs proper fitting to perform at its best. That's why we use Real Ear Measurement (REM) during every Vivia fitting - a scientific process that measures the actual sound output of your hearing aids while they sit in your ear canal. REM is only used in about 25-40% of hearing aid fittings nationwide, but we consider it essential for getting the most from your investment.

During your fitting, Dr. Martinetti uses REM to verify that your Vivia hearing aids are delivering the right amount of amplification across all frequencies. This precision measurement ensures the AI features work optimally for your specific hearing loss and ear canal anatomy. We then fine-tune the settings based on these measurements and your personal preferences.

After your initial fitting, we provide ongoing support and adjustments as needed. The AI technology in the Vivia can be refined over time to better match your listening preferences and habits. Regular follow-up appointments help us ensure your hearing aids continue performing at their best, while giving you opportunities to ask questions and learn more about your devices' features.
