The new ReSound Nexia hearing aids introduce groundbreaking technology that changes how people experience sound in public spaces. Auracast broadcast audio technology represents a significant advancement in hearing aid capabilities, offering new ways to connect with audio sources in various environments.

What is Auracast Technology?

Auracast is a revolutionary feature built into the ReSound Nexia that allows users to receive audio broadcasts directly through their hearing aids. This technology enables clear sound reception in places like theaters, houses of worship, airports, arenas, and restaurants that have Auracast-enabled audio systems.

The system works through Bluetooth LE 5.2, making it possible for multiple people to receive the same audio broadcast simultaneously. This means that in venues equipped with Auracast technology, users can connect their Nexia hearing aids directly to the sound system for optimal clarity.

Benefits of Auracast in Different Settings

Public Venues

When attending events at theaters or concert halls with Auracast-enabled systems, Nexia users receive audio directly from the venue's sound system. This direct connection bypasses background noise and acoustic challenges that often make it difficult to hear clearly in large spaces.

Transportation Hubs

In airports or train stations, announcements can be streamed directly to Nexia hearing aids. This feature helps ensure that important travel information is heard clearly, even in busy terminal environments.

Religious Services

Houses of worship can use Auracast to transmit services directly to congregation members wearing Nexia hearing aids, providing clear sound regardless of seating location.

Educational Settings

In lecture halls or classrooms with Auracast capability, students wearing Nexia hearing aids can receive the instructor's voice directly, improving learning experiences.

The Technology Behind Nexia

Beyond Auracast, the Nexia introduces several other technological improvements. The hearing aids feature sophisticated directional systems and M&RIE (Microphone & Receiver-in-Ear) technology, which work together to provide natural sound quality.

The Nexia comes in four Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) models, including the Micro RIE, which is 25% smaller than standard RIEs. This compact design includes an accelerometer for tap controls, allowing users to answer phone calls by simply double-tapping their ear.

Connectivity Features

The Nexia's connectivity extends beyond Auracast. These hearing aids offer wireless audio streaming for both Apple and Android devices. Through the ReSound Smart 3D app, users can adjust their hearing aid settings and even locate misplaced devices using the "Find My Hearing Aids" feature.

For those with single-sided hearing loss, the Nexia CROS system provides a solution by transmitting sound from the non-hearing ear to the better-hearing ear, ensuring a more complete listening experience.

Battery Life and Charging Options

The Nexia provides approximately 24 hours of use on a single charge during typical use, or 20 hours when streaming 50% of the time. Multiple charging options are available for the rechargeable models, offering flexibility in how users maintain their devices.

Professional Fitting and Real Ear Measurement

At our practice, we program each pair of Nexia hearing aids using Real Ear Measurement technology. This process ensures that the hearing aids are precisely calibrated to your specific hearing needs and ear canal acoustics, maximizing the benefits of Nexia's advanced features.

The Importance of Professional Support

The Nexia's sophisticated technology requires proper fitting and ongoing support from experienced hearing care professionals. Our audiologist works with you to customize settings, explain features, and make adjustments as needed to optimize your hearing experience.

Comparing Nexia Models

The Nexia offers different models to accommodate varying hearing needs and preferences:

Nexia Micro RIE

The smallest option in the lineup features a rechargeable battery and push-button controls. Its compact size makes it nearly invisible behind the ear while maintaining full functionality and compatibility with Cochlear™ Nucleus® sound processors.

Nexia RIE 312 and RIE 13

These models use disposable batteries (Size 312 and Size 13 respectively), with the RIE 13 including telecoil functionality. Both provide the full range of Nexia features while offering flexibility in power options.

Nexia Micro RIE CROS

Designed specifically for those with unaidable hearing loss in one ear, this model uses advanced wireless technology to transmit sound from the non-hearing side to the hearing ear.

Daily Use Features

Sound Processing

The Nexia's updated sound processing system includes a specialized Hearing in Noise program. This feature helps users focus on conversations in challenging listening environments, a common concern for many hearing aid users.

Tap Control Convenience

The built-in accelerometer enables intuitive tap controls, allowing users to answer phone calls without touching their phone. This hands-free capability proves particularly useful during daily activities when phones might not be easily accessible.

Smart App Integration

The ReSound Smart 3D app provides extensive control over hearing aid settings. Users can:

  • Adjust volume levels for different environments
  • Create custom programs for specific listening situations
  • Monitor battery status
  • Access the Find My Hearing Aids feature
  • Make sound adjustments based on their location

Testing Before Committing

We believe in ensuring our patients make informed decisions about their hearing health investments. That's why we offer hearing aid trials with no financial obligation. This allows you to experience the Nexia's features in your daily life before making a decision.

During the trial period, we use Real Ear Measurement technology to verify and adjust the hearing aids' performance. This scientific approach ensures you receive maximum benefit from the technology while maintaining comfort in various listening situations.
